About this project

In September of 1998, LexIcon Systems, a Vermont-based multimedia developer, received a grant from the US Department of Education to create interactive material to teach basic workplace skills. In six months, LexIcon developed a fully-interactive prototype accessible from the World Wide Web. This proof-of-concept prototype has been on the web since February 1999 and we have gathered extensive feedback on the program.

In September of 1999 LexIcon received additional funding to turn this prototype into a fully-functioning, web-delivered, instructional experience. While our funding continues until September 2001, we have chosen to make this early version available. The structure of this program is complete--beginning, instruction, ending--but we will continue to expand the levels and variety of skills over the next months. Please feel free to examine this program and use it with your students. Tell me (Michael Hillinger) what works, what doesnŐt and things you think should be included.
